Tom Cone - the story so far
Having forged a special interest in Internet based marketing for the past ten years, Tom would often attend expensive American workshops to get cutting edge tips and online strategies, to take back to his clients. The problem was, they couldn't really understand or utilise these 'gems', as often there wouldn't even be an email address as a contact point when questions arose. And if there was, they'd maybe check it once a week ...
Ten years ago Tom was in the frustrating, but motivational situation of having a lot of knowledge and nowhere to apply it. He began running Government sponsored workshops in the UK, explaining the fundamentals of online marketing to businesses.
As time went by, Tom began hankering after creating his own niche in the market -- something for him, personally, to develop and grow, rather than expending all his effort and energy helping other business owners. Tom took the decision to become the support for the UK arm of Membergate, the membership software package of choice for entrepreneurs.
Running his own website, Nick-James.com, on Membergate, entrepreneur Nick James called up Tom regarding a technical query and they started talking ... Having all the know how and experience to run a membership website, but not actually running one himself (or for his own profit), Tom was ready to take the plunge and start out on his own.
And the entrepreneurs' circle began closing in on him when he realised that he had actually previously purchased one of Nick James' products, without realising who he was. Anyone who's met Tom will know that he likes to talk and isn't backward in coming forwards in business. Realising that he was in a fortunate position talking to Nick about business development at a crucial time in his own entrepreneurship story, Tom took full advantage of Nick's specialist knowledge and they pooled experience and ideas over the next few months.
Soon after, Tom founded http://www.ezs3.com/ to make it easy for anyone to use media and video as a marketing tool online -- whilst retaining full copyright of the content (unlike YouTube.) Nick and Tom brainstormed together, swapping suggestions and ideas, which resulted in the creation of the highly successful -- and profitable site.
Tom notes: "I've been in the marketing business for many years and have a lot of respect for Nick's direct marketing knowledge and success. I've learnt a lot from him about the disciplines of distance selling." Nick and Tom went on to JV on bringing Perry Lawrence (aka Mr Video) over from the US for a Masterclass at Heathrow, which received highly positive feedback across the board.
Tom continues: "Nick shares an awful lot of his insights and knowledge with his members, anyone else would be charging a consultancy fee for the information he provides. He combines an extraordinary breadth of knowledge with a very friendly approach -- making it a pleasure to work with him -- I'm looking forward to seeing the results of our next projects which are now in the pipeline."
