One of The Great Marketing Lies You Need to Steer Clear Of "It Takes Money to Make Money!"
Nick James

Ever heard this… ever said this to yourself…

"If only I could get MORE money for my business, I'd be flying high""I've just got too many things good things to do, if only I had more money to make them work""I just need to get my business loan going and I'll be up and running and in the money pretty quickly… my cashflow's really weak just now, I just need another pile of money to get things happening… "

Quite honestly, hurling unearned money into a business enterprise in order to get it revving, is a sure recipe for failure. It's not the money that'll help you succeed. Let me repeat, it's not the money.

What most businesses suffer from is a lack of ideas. And, for those ideas to be acted on and implemented. If it were the case that the more money a business has, the more successful they'll be, then all of those high spending companies with deep pockets should have prospered majestically through the 'dot com bust'.

Of course, that wasn't so.

The problem with the 'we need more money' attitude for the small to medium sized business owner is that because of seeing how much the big companies are spending in order to get their profits cranked up, the small business owner feels the urge to do the same.

WRONG

And that's precisely the reason 80% of small business operators are NOT in business within 5 years. They've just blown themselves up with the "It takes money to make money" lie.

For the small business owner, there are plenty low cost to no cost methods that can boost business. Money is not the primary issue here. What is, is the lack of recognising these income generating tactics and ideas.

Imagine a business owner stumping up £5k or more for Einstein looking search engine optimisation techniques or for having a spinning, whirring flash presentation on their website…

Where instead…

For very little or NO money, they could be doing any of the following:

Submitting articles to the relevant ezine and article directories … creating blog entries that'll automatically get picked up search engines… writing joint venture letters to prospective partners for a mutual profitable arrangement…setting up an autoresponder sequence or creating an electronic newsletter (ezine)… sending free press releases… arranging to speak for free or for a fee… making comments on relevant forum sites related to your particular area of expertise

All of the above are little to NO COST methods to ramp up your marketing. You can do it all yourself. You don't need a pile of cash or a business loan for any of the above.

And, if you're looking to really break the bank with say, 100-200 pounds or so, you could add audio and video to your website.

Can you see how the 'it takes money to make money' will continue to be a truth for you until you get an alternative point of view. I hope I've given you an alternative to the above.

And, I know it may have crossed your thoughts about the fact that you may find it somewhat tedious, time consuming, a pain at times to think of the writing skills you'll need to own in order to get all of the above cranked out… the blog writing, the ezine content, the article writing, the autoresponder content, the press releases, the joint venture letters to prospective partners…

Certainly you can learn to do it all yourself. You'll gain an immense sense of satisfaction and achievement when you're able to do so. You can go to the copywriting section of the members' website to get you up to speed on all that.

Or, you can hire outside help to get the job done for you. And, that's where the wise money may get distributed to. And if that is the case, then you know exactly what you are doing with your money, what you'll be getting for your investment. There's no guesswork or no praying, wishing, hoping good things will happen for it's very easy to lose track of all your spending on making your business mor profitable.

On the other hand, diverting money to enhance your website with time consuming graphics and flash; spending a bundle on complex search engine optimisation; spending time, money and effort on backend and future product marketing is not going to give you immediate impact and results for the investment you painfully have put forth.

Concentrating on the little to no cost marketing activities and strategies will be the best cash injection you can give your business.

Why not see which strategies and techniques you are going to get done today, tomorrow and for the rest of the week. Once you begin to focus like this, you'll soon see sales at your website that you may not have got before if you didn't see this article. The resulting profits can then be reinvested back into the other more sophisticated, elaborate marketing techniques and strategies we talked about earlier.

And, the fact is, if you can make a business work without the need for a pile of unearned income - loans, favours, gifts, etc, you most certainly can create a profitable business with outside monetary help.

You see, once cash flow is revived with a big loan or investment, fresh thinking and creativity, stops. It acts as a pacifier. A safety net. A buffer to stop the creative flow.

And that's dangerous.

As a small business or home operator, you need to be constantly on the entrepreneurial look out. You need to be alert at all times for you can never be entirely sure where your next big business breakthrough will come.

Marketing your way out of a crisis is one of the biggest skills you can have. And, when you learn to think this way and apply yourself in this most rewarding of disciplines, you will find that there's really nothing much you cannot do when it comes to ensuring the profitability of your business enterprise.

And you'll be able to stomp all over the crushing lie - the one that says that you need money to make money - the very same one that has made many a business owner - online and offline… bankrupt.
