Life in the world of Internet marketing can be chaotic. Anytime content marketing is being used to build a business, there are dozens of projects that can be going on at any time. This includes creating landing pages, working on email marketing, offering webinars, hosting podcasts, writing guest posts, publishing a book, and the list goes on and on.

How in the world are you supposed to focus will all of these things going on? If you don’t know where to start, you don’t know when you are finished for the day, and this can lead to a never-ending cycle of being buried under work. Here are 4 ways to start organizing your content-marketing to-do list.

 

1. Identify Dependencies

There are quite a few dependencies within your to do list and you need to identify these, otherwise, you could be wasting your time and possibly your money, too.

Examples include:

– Sending paid traffic to a website that has no content. The paid traffic is dependent upon your content.

– Building a paid membership site with no audience of people offered to. The paid membership is dependent upon having an audience.

– Writing posts without a way of capturing email addresses. The post writing is dependent upon being able to build your audience.

You don’t want to waste your time with the bigger projects if you don’t have the dependencies in place because you are going to get the best bang for your buck.

Think about your latest content marketing tactic. You need to think about everything that needs to be put into place in order for the tactic to be effective. Identify all of these things, identify the dependencies, and then tackle your to-do list appropriately.

 

2. Must-Have for Launch

You have the items that you absolutely must have for launching new content. Whether you are launching content on your website, creating a Facebook ad, or even a pay per click campaign, there are items that you must have – like the following:

– Keywords

– Target demographics

– Graphics

 

3. Nice to Have for Launch

You probably have a few things that would be nice to have, and if you have time to do them, great, have them ready for the launch – like the following:

– Freebie value item if they sign up

– Autoresponder emails upon registering

– Marketing automation

 

4. Start Your To Do List

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, and the Shiny Object Syndrome that we suffer from as Internet marketers certainly doesn’t help, either. Be strategic and don’t waste your time or money on items in your to-do list if you don’t have other items done first.
